About Tara Dakin

TTara Dakin is a Registered Developmental Psychologist (BPS), teacher (QTS), Pilates Mat Instructor, Auricular Acupuncturist, massage therapist (NVQ Level 4), and Reiki practitioner. Her work sits at the intersection of psychology, embodiment, movement, and human development.

Over more than twenty-six years, Tara has worked within psychology, education, wellbeing, and personal development, bringing together evidence-informed psychological understanding with embodied practice and reflective enquiry.

She is the creator of SELF, a psychologically informed somatic approach that incorporates metacognitive awareness and interoceptive enquiry.

SELF is expressed through private sessions, the forthcoming book SELF, a series of reflective journals, group experiences, and educational presentations. Through this work, Tara invites people to explore the subtle architecture of the self through enquiry, interoception, movement, reflection, and embodied awareness.

Her approach is educational rather than prescriptive, reflective rather than reactive, and grounded in the belief that greater psychological and embodied understanding can support greater agency, coherence, and wellbeing.

Alongside her private practice, Tara speaks and presents on topics including developmental psychology, nervous system awareness, embodied wellbeing, self-understanding, and the relationship between mind, body, and experience.

At the heart of her work is agency and a simple question:

What do we begin to see when we truly understand ourselves?
