Understanding the Self

We can spend a lifetime trying to understand ourselves, and humans in general, what a winding path that would be.

What is perhaps more beneficial, and well-researched, is that even a small understanding of the psychology of self can support our wellbeing, our awareness, and our choices. For some, it brings a quiet sense of inner peace.

We were never explicitly taught about the self, developmental psychology, the nervous system, emotional patterning in school, and for many, not through our upbringing. And yet, it is all about you and so important. Not in a way that promotes egocentricity or gregarious vanity, but in a more grounded, considered way. A place where knowing a little more about yourself is, quite simply, good for you.

Psychology, at its core, is the disciplined study of how the mind, the nervous system, and our development shape our perceptions, emotions, behaviours, and choices. It offers a framework for understanding why we think, feel, and respond as we do, and how change becomes possible when awareness replaces automaticity.

My offering- ‘Self’ is psychologically informed self-enquiry for those who want their wellness and have clarity, agency, and awareness to change if they want. Rather than focusing on symptoms, this work explores the internal patterns organising your experience, how your nervous system, emotional states, beliefs, values, and life history interact in real time.

What This Work Supports

Through Self: The Journey of You and our sessions together, you are supported to:

  • Develop a clearer understanding of your internal patterns

  • Build trust and confidence in your own thinking and responses

  • Increase awareness of emotional, cognitive, and behavioural states

  • Recognise what is happening in both mind and body

  • Strengthen agency, discernment, and self-trust in decision-making and relationships

  • Educate yourself psychologically, rather than rely on surface-level techniques

This is an approach for those who want to understand themselves well, are curious, and wish to consider overall wellness.
